About Us

ENAPAL is an Ethiopian Resident non profit organization committed to addressing leprosy related issues in Ethiopia. It is registered as per the Charities and Societies Proclamation 621/2009 of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia as an Ethiopian Residents/Societies organization. It is a community-based organization working on leprosy related rehabilitation, prevention of disability, capacity building, education, stigma reduction and occasionally on  drought emergency response and preparedness to our members.

We are currently operating in Addis Ababa, Amara, Tigray, Harrari, SNNP and Oromia Regions in the country.

To see a generation free from misconception, discrimination and exclusion of persons affected by leprosy.

To enable persons affected by leprosy in Ethiopia to fully participate in the development of the country by eliminating misconception, discrimination and exclusion; and boosting their dignity through leprosy health awareness creation, socio-economic development and organizing them in their localities for solidarity.

Enhanced organizational capacity of ENAPAL from grass-roots to national level, that use accepted development practices, which are based around respect of members’ values, active participation and contribution; through working on leprosy health awareness, community development and socio-economic rehabilitation of persons affected by leprosy in the wider community.

1)  To build the capacity of national association and local branches to create self-sufficient members, leaders and local branches and the national association (ENAPAL) by building their capacity in finance, material and human resource and skill/knowledge.2) To undertake awareness activities to correct the misconception of the society  about leprosy so that persons affected by leprosy will have conducive environment for work, education, acquiring skill and knowledge, housing, employment and income generating activities in their respective communities. 3) To undertake socio-economic development and rehabilitation  activities to create the situation that pull out members from begging like through self-employment, income generating activities, education including their immediate family members(children), housing etc.

The staff and board govern the organization with a “Duty of Care” and “Duty of Loyalty” to protect and distribute the assets of ENAPAL  for the purpose of advancing the missions of worthy causes
