Working Women Group

The Addis Ababa Region Persons Affected by leprosy Association Women's Work Group was formed in July of 2001 as an income generation project by and for a small group of leprosy affected women. The women participating in the group have learnt new embroidering skills with which they can produce beautifully embroidered traditionally weaved textile products with relatively low prices to sell in appropriate venues in order to generate incomes for the participants and created permanent employment opportunity for 43 women affected by leprosy most of whom used to live on charity and unrespectable works (fuel wood carrier) as it was intended at the beginning.

Now these women started living by their own income and they also started affording their families expenses from the income they are getting from the sales of their products. They are currently producing the following products tea cosy, wall hanging including framed Ethiopian traditional embroideries, hot holders, curtains, bags for both ladies and men, sleeping gowns, traditional children clothes, cushions, mitten, table linen, bed linen and others. More over you can order any type of these and any other type of products when ever you like.
